There are many restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets in Stratford, below are a few of our favourites. If you have any comments, or recommendations, or think there is somewhere we have missed please let us know.

No 9

No 9 serves some of the best food in town, they use the finest local suppliers to serve fantastically executed food in their cosy restaurant near Stratford's Old Town. The style of food is British with a contemporary twist. No 9 restaurant is a real treat and well worth a visit for a special occasion.

Essence

Essence is a relative newcomer to Stratford and has become one of our favourite places to eat in town. They offer a very relaxed but professional dining experience tucked away in their contemporary restaurant just off Bridge St. Our favourite day to visit is Sunday for their fantastic roast beef but pop along any day and you won't be disappointed. (they offer a 10% discount to Avonlea customers who pre-book their table through ourselves)

The Waterside Brasserie at The Arden

The Waterside Brasserie is situated opposite the RSC so a perfect location for a pre-theatre meal. Recently renovated it is a stylish, chic environment offering superbly executed modern British cooking using the finest local ingredients.

The Church Street Town House

Church Street is probably our favourite restaurant in town, with an emphasis on local quality produce, it's menu offers an eclectic mix of modern dishes from around the world. Having recently been refurbished and with parts of the building dating back to 1600 the mix of old and new makes you feel very welcome. One small criticism is that during the summer the building can get very hot so is sometimes uncomfortable. However if you are there on a Friday evening between 5pm-6pm a bottle of chilled Champagne is only £20

Edward Moon

Known locally as 'Moons', situated on Chapel Street next to many of Stratford-upon-Avon's key historical sites. They offer informal but professional service catering for all tastes. From the traditional British menu they will serve you the best quality food using local English ingredients, always with a smile. (they offer a 10% discount to Avonlea customers with the voucher attached to the menu in our breakfast room)

The Vintner & Lambs are both owned by the same people. They pride themselves on offering a fine mixture of traditional English cooking and modern European cuisine. Weekly changing specials reflect the thoughtful use of fresh, local produce. The Vintner serve food all day so it is a fantastic place to pop in and refuel at any time of day.

Le Bistrot Pierre

Only a 2min walk from us Bistrot Pierre is our 'local', it has fantastic views of the river and has a lovely deck to dine on when the sun is shining. They offer typical French Bistrot food; although they are part of a small chain you will not find your typical humdrum food here. All food is fresh and well cooked. They offer a special gluten free menu if needed too.
