Shakespeare Properties
There are a number of historic properties within Stratford town and the immeadiate surrounding villages that document the life and times of William Shakespeare.
Within the historic town centre of Stratford-upon-Avon itself lies Shakespeare's Birthplace (Henley Street), which includes a museum and fine period gardens. Also with short walking distance is Hall's Croft (Old Town) and Nash's House & New Place. (both Chapel Street), properties associated with Shakespeare and his family, and also Harvard House, (High Street(, an elegant Elizabethan town house with links to Harvard University.
A short walk from the town centre is Anne Hathaway's Cottage (Cottage Lane, Shottery), home to Shakespeare's wife with award-winning gardens. In the nearby village of Wilmcote is Mary Arden's House (Station Road, Wilmcote) which can be easily reached by train and bus ((see tour bus panel)).

Stratford Theatres
The Swan Theatre is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, however productions are continuing in the other theatres around the town. The Swan is due to re-open in 2010.

River Avon and Parks
The River Avon is the perfect way to relax while visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. The recently re-developed Bancroft Gardens provide an ideal space to view the River and Swan Theatre. There are many Riverside walks to enjoy, and on sunny days it is well worthwhile hiring a rowing boat, motorboat, punt or even your own Venetian gondala!. Organised River Trips are also available, as is an evening meal aboard a floating restaurant, allowing you to take in the sights while enjoying a fine meal.
Open Top Bus Tours
Open top bus tours of Stratford and the surroundimg vilages operate throughout the year and are a great way to travel between the various Shakespeare properties. More information can be obtained from the City-Sightseeing website.
Shopping and Entertainment
Stratford boasts many restaurants and historic pubs, offering light bites to fine dining. There are a number of riverside establishments (perfect on a summer afternoon), and of course a plethora of shops.
