Loxleys Stratford upon Avon

We often like to take a Sunday afternoon off and go into town to relax after a busy weekend. We thought we would share some of our favourite places to go on a Sunday.

The list is just a snapshot – there are lots of eateries that open on Sunday for you to choose from!

Loxley’s

Loxley’s has been a favourite of ours and our guests for many years. It has a great location right in the centre of town on Sheep Street and they offer a varied menu and serve fantastic freshly cooked food all week.

On a Sunday their roast beef is possibly the best quality and value we have found in town and their service is always welcoming and friendly.

The Boathouse

Just two minutes’ walk from Avonlea, The Boathouse is our ‘local’ restaurant. They have one of the best views of any restaurant in town, on the first floor overlooking the river and the working boathouse downstairs. People who know us will know location alone isn’t enough to make this one of our favourite restaurants the food has to be excellent too. The Boathouse doesn’t disappoint with its varied bistro-style menu. We always look at their ‘specials board’ as this is reserved for their fish dishes and Sunday Roast’s to ensure they are only using that week’s best ingredients!

Ya-Bard

Our ‘local’ watering hole! It might not be our local by distance, but we have many friends there and even have our portraits on the wall along with other regulars. If you go in, why not see if you can spot us? We love the relaxed atmosphere here on a Sunday.

They have five regularly changing taps if you would like a draft beer and their fridges are full of many other cans and bottles of craft beer to both drink in and take-away. Clare will often go straight for anything from Vault City who do an ever-changing range of ‘fruited sour beers’ – trust us, they might sound strange, but they are delicious.

Café Cocktail

Café Cocktail serve the best cocktails in town and we like visiting on a Sunday for their ‘curated open mic’ where local musicians come along and play from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. They have an extensive cocktail list including a fantastic Bloody Mary (essential for a Sunday). Clare often likes to try their cocktail of the week and my drink of choice is their Third Wheel.
