Access Statement

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.


Avonlea is situated on a main road in to Stratford-Upon-Avon, a 0.5 mile walk from the town centre. We have 8 bedrooms with 1 on the ground floor. We are not fully accessible for wheelchair users as there are 3 steps to the front of the property and 2 to the rear.

We are 0.8 miles (a 15 minute walk) from Stratford-Upon-Avon train station, the nearest bus leaves Stratford from Wood Street (route no 211) and stops off a 2 minute walk away from Avonlea on Banbury Road.

There are various taxi services available in Stratford please call ahead if you would like us to book you one. Alternatively they are available outside the train station.

Car Parking and Arrival

We have 3 spaces to the front of the property and a further 3 spaces to the rear of the property. Our spaces are the furthest 3 as you enter the car park. The spaces are taken on a first come first serve basis. However if you are having difficulty finding a space please let us know and we will assist you.
All vehicles are parked at the owners’ risk. Should a problem occur with a vehicle in the car park, Avonlea cannot accept any liability.
On the main road there is some unrestricted parking on our side of the road. There are also some parking bays on the opposite side of the road that are free from 5pm until 9am. Outside these hours it is restricted to 1 hour.
The ground from both of our parking areas is even, sturdy and made of tarmac or brick.
There are 3 steps to the front of the property and 2 to the rear. Both doors are 2"8' Wide.

Welcome Area

The reception/welcome area is on the ground floor of the property.
The area is well lit and has even flooring covered in a short pile floor covering.
There are 2 low comfy arm chairs available at check in or just relax in.
Upon arrival Avonlea's facilities are shown to guests and they are escorted to their room and given assistance with luggage.


Room 1 is our most accessible bedroom. Located on the ground floor, once you are in the building, there are no steps to get to the room.
The door into the room has an opening of 2"10’ and the door to the en-suite shower room is 2"2' wide.
The room has a zip and link bed so can be a double or twin room as requested.
The room has a short pile carpet.
The room is bright and evenly lit and is decorated in natural colours..
The bed is 1"11' high
The room has an en-suite shower room that has a shower cubical.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (En-suite or Shared)
All but one bedroom, have their own en-suite shower room with a shower cubical, sink & WC
The shower rooms are well and evenly lit.
There is a step up in to all of the shower cubicles

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings & Corridors
The main hall and landings are generally spacious and well lit.
The carpet is a medium pile.
The stairs up to the 1st & 2nd floors are quite steep. There is a hand rail available and assistance with luggage is always offered.

Breakfast Room

The breakfast room is a bright will lit room to the rear of the property.
There is a wide entrance door and tables are well spaced.
There is a short pile carpet covering an even floor.
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room from 8am to 9:15am. If you should require an earlier breakfast please let us know.
If you have any particular dietary requirements including vegetarian, wheat free and dairy free diets - please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you

Future Plans

We plan to continually upgrade Avonlea to make it more accessible.
Any suggestions that you may feel may make Avonlea more accessible are welcomed.
